SUSTAINABLE CHURCH GROWTH (PERTUMBUHAN GEREJA BERKELANJUTAN)

Abstrak

Gereja sebagai organisme, juga berfungsi sebagai organisasi, dimana pengelolaan gereja ketika bertumbuh perlu juga diatur supaya pertumbuhan itu menjadi produktif dan efektif. Para petobat baru perlu dilatih, pemimpin rohani perlu bertumbuh, system dan struktur gereja membutuhkan penyesuaian disana-sini. Jika gereja berhasil mengelola ini dengan baik maka pertumbuhan gereja akan berkelanjutan, bukan hanya satu masa saja tetapi melampaui generasi-generasi selanjutnya.
Banyak gereja yang pernah bertumbuh sangat dahsyat, tetapi kemudian meredup dan hilang seiring dengan berjalannya waktu. Apakah Roh Kudus tidak bekerja? Apakah gereja telah menjadi suam-suam kuku? Ataukah Tuhan tidak menghendaki gereja tersebut bertumbuh? Hal-hal diatas adalah hal-hal yang tidak dapat kita control. Itu adalah hak prerogatif Allah (Ul 29:29). Tetapi ada bagian-bagian kepemimpinan yang perlu kita belajar yang dapat kita kontrol, yakni bagaimana mengelola gereja kearah pertumbuhan yang berkelanjutan, sebagaimana Firman Kristus di 1 Kor 4, bahwa gereja sebagai ladang (kebun anggur), yakni hal-hal yang tidak dapat kita kontrol, tetapi juga gereja sebagai bangunan Allah (struktur yang dapat dikontrol).

Abstact

The church as an organism, also functions as an organization, where the management of the church when it grows needs to be regulated so that the growth becomes productive and effective. New converts need to be trained, spiritual leaders need to grow, church systems and structures need adjustments here and there. If the church manages this well then the growth of the church will be sustainable, not just for one period but beyond the next generations.
Many churches have grown tremendously, but then faded and disappeared over time. Is the Holy Spirit not working? Has the church become lukewarm? Or does God not want the church to grow? The things above are things that we cannot control. It is God's prerogative (Deut. 29:29). But there are parts of leadership that we need to learn that we can control, namely how to manage the church towards sustainable growth, as Christ's Word in 1 Cor 4, that the church is a field (vineyard), namely things that we cannot control, but also the church as God's building (a controllable structure).
